Management Team
Robert J. Silverman, is Chief Executive Officer of the parent company and President of the mtm US subsidiary since mid 2005. Prior to that, Mr. Silverman had provided strategic management consulting services to mtm and other companies in the life science field through his own company, RS Consulting. Before he formed RS Consulting in 2003, Mr. Silverman served as the Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations for ViaCell, Inc., a biotechnology company focused on the application of human cells as medicine in the treatment of human disease. From 1996-2001, Mr. Silverman held several senior executive positions with Cytyc Corporation, including Vice President of International and Vice President of Marketing. Cytyc is a leading medical device company focused on women´s health. In addition, Mr. Silverman has held senior management positions with Pasteur-Merieux Connaught, now a division of Sanofi Aventis, and Abbott Laboratories Pharmaceutical Products Division. Mr. Silverman holds a BSc degree in Pharmacy from the University of Michigan and a Masters in Management, Marketing & Finance from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University.
Rüdiger Ridder, PhD, is a founding member of mtm and was appointed as Chief Scientific Officer in August 2001, after being Director of R&D since the foundation of the Company. Before co-founding mtm, Dr Ridder held a leading research management position within the Division of Molecular Diagnostics and Therapy at the University of Heidelberg, and was a key member of the team involved in the discovery and pre-commercial development of mtm`s core technologies. Dr Ridder has also worked in both industrial and academic research and was a project leader at DKFZ (German Cancer Research Center), Henkel KGaA and Sandoz Pharma (now Novartis).During his time at Henkel, Dr Ridder was project leader and lab head in the Department of Microbiology, and during his time at Sandoz Pharma, he focused on the development of immunoassays based on recombinant antibody technology. At DKFZ, he worked as a project leader in the field of molecular biology of ageing in the group run by Harald zur Hausen. Dr Ridder received his degree in biology and his PhD in molecular biology from Ruhr-University Bochum.
